Often here at Milne Alexander we’ve been asked to provide options for Leisure Travel insurance and now we can help! With easy access to buy online through AIG (previously Chartis) means that our personal clients can be protected. Insurance products and services are provided by American Home Assurance Company, ABN 67 007 483 267, AFSL 230903, trading as AIG Australia).
This policy is suitable for all types of travellers from people who travel all the time, abroad or domestic and can support people aged over 70 years old.
If you are an Australian permanent resident and are undertaking travel to an overseas destination, or travelling within Australia including Lord Howe Island, Cocos Island, Christmas Island, and intend to return to your home in Australia upon completion of your Trip, You will be eligible to apply for cover under a AIG Insurance policy applicable for your travel destination.
Not only does the policy cover all the standard inclusions like medical, lost luggage and cancellations, but it also provides added benefits including:
- Special events and missed connections. If something beyond your control happens and you need to make alternative arrangements to get to a special event, these arrangemens are covered.
- Reimbursement of travel agent fees and frequent flyer points from cancellations.
- Sporting equipment cover (e.g. ski hire, golfclubs) if luggage is delayed or lost.
- Home help if hospitalised overseas. Keep things running at home while you're laid up.
- Loss of income cover, up to $400 per week for 13 weeks.

Travel Warnings The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) provide an update on Travel Warnings for particular destinations, with respect to either Political Unrest or Natural Disasters. DFAT website ww.dfat.gov.au
You should consider:
Most policies may not respond if there is travel when Travel Warnings have been issued for particular destinations, with respect to either Political Unrest or Natural Disasters and your policy may not respond to a claim for Cancellation /Curtailment & Additional Expenses or Political & Natural Disaster Evacuation.
This will depend on the actual circumstances whether an event was foreseeable or not ( ie. due to current information available in the media and on the DFAT website and the level of the DFAT Travel
Warning).
- Level 5 DFAT Warning = Do Not Travel
- Level 4 DFAT Warning = Reconsider Your Need to Travel
